September 17th, 2013 Oktoberfest

Have you ever heard of Oktoberfest? Most people may only know that people drink German beers in the festival, and I was also one of them.

Oktoberfest is the world's largest beer festival held annually at Munich in Bavaria, Germany from late September to the first weekend in October. And to my surprise, it has been going on for more than 200 years.

I'd love to have the real German beers, sausages, and pretzels one day.

September 10th, 2013 New School Year

Has summer break (or winter break in southern countries) ended in your country? New semester has started in most of Japanese schools, and we are seeing children commuting to their schools.

The elementary school students in Japan typically use very heavy-duty backpack you see in the photo. It lasts for more than six years, so they use it for all their elementary school years. And many also hang on the bag a crime-prevention alarm that emits large sound just in case they encounter danger.

How did you commute when you were small?

September 3rd, 2013 Venice

The series of festivals and exhibitions held in Italy, Venice Biennale, is going on now.

I love to see movies, but my favorite movies are the ones made by small independent film companies rather than the popular ones people talk about. I also like to watch DVDs on life story of historical persons or famous musicians.

I tried to imagine being in "the lagoon city" which I've never been to. Speaking of Italy where Venice is located, I also wish to visit the Duomo in Florence I read in a novel.
