Fireworks are used on special occasions around the world. In Japan, many firework festivals are organized in summer, and I always enjoy being at one of them.

July 23rd, 2013 Geta (wooden clogs)

Hi! Various festivals are held during summer in Japan. Many people go to festivals in a traditional style, yukata and geta.

So, today we are featuring the pictures of geta.

They are worn on your bare feet to walk leaning your weight forth and make a lovely clip-clop noise while walking.

July 9th, 2013 Wimbledon Tennis

Have you enjoyed watching this year's Wimbledon tennis tournament? I sure did. The tournament began in year 1877, with 22 players participating.

The tournament started on July 9th of the year, so it means it started exactly 136 years back from today.

Isn't it amazing to see the tournament which started with a small number of players continued and kept growing for so long? I'd love to go see the matches there someday.

July 2nd, 2013 The Star Festival (Tanabata)

July 7th (Tanabata) has been familiar in Japan from long time ago as the day that people think of a myth about the star Vega and Milky Way.

In my hometown, an event like Halloween is held every year in Tanabata, and children visit one another's houses to get a lot of sweets.

It is said that Milky Way is the crowd of stars. It's a strange feeling to think that we can see ancient stars now. See you!
