January, 24th, 2013 Quick guide to million moments: Part 3 Changing the time-span setting of an album

Hi, this is Gokaichi. This is the last post of quick guide to million moments.

You can change the way you view your album by changing its settings. The settings of an album can be changed by tapping settings menu after long-pressing the album or by dragging a page upward to show menu on the bottom. This time, I'd like to share with you how you can change "time span" of an album. By changing the setting to either "1 day per page" or "1 week per page", you will be able to look back your album quickly because the app will allocate only one day or one week per page. The app will randomly pick which picture to fit into the page. I like to use the function to look back my child's growth. Here is how you do it.

1. Long-press the book you wish to change the setting

2. Tap "Book time span"

3. Select the time span

4. Go back to the previous page, and save the settings

Let's see how it looks now.

My recommendation is to change "Picture sort order" along with the time span. By changing the sort order to "Oldest first", you can enjoy watching how your child gradually gets bigger. Please give it a try. See you!

January, 10th, 2013 Quick guide to million moments: Part 1 Let's create an album

Happy new year to you all! This is Gokaichi.

Today, I'd like to write to those of you who have recently started using million moments, since there are a lot of new users too. I'd like to start from how to create an new album.

When you first launch million moments, the only album you see beside the tutorial boooks is one named "ALL". With million moments, you can create a new album of your own by attaching labels to your favorite photos. So here is how it goes.

1. Open the album and find a photo you wish to add to your new album.

2. Drag the page down and show labels on the top.

3. Tap a label, and then attach it to a photo by tapping the photo.

4. Go back to book shelf, and you see a new album with the photo.

The name you give to a label becomes the name of your new album. You can give the name from the "Settings" you see on the right hand side of the menu.

On my next post, I'd like to write on how you can share your favorite page of an album with your friends. See you!

October 15th, 2012 The new update has come / is coming!

We are seeing a lot of excellent entries to our photo competition that’s going on right now, but meanwhile, I’d like share with you something equally important – the new update for the app!

The new update of million moments for Android is now available, and the iOS version is now in review. In this post, I’d like to share with you the good additional features newly supported in the update.

1.Swipe a picture to see the previous/next one

You can enlarge a picture in an album by tapping it. The new update allows you to see the next or the previous picture in this mode simply by swiping the picture sideways.

2.Clear your labels at once

We added a new function that allows you to remove a designated label all at once from your albums. In your setting menu, select a label, and then tap “Remove labels” to take that label away. Naturally, the album under the name of that label will be removed also.

3.Change the date of the pictures

When you wish to change the date of a picture, you can now do so by enlarging that picture, tapping the “edit” icon and then tapping “Date taken.” This allows you to change the date of the picture that appears in your album.

I hope you liked our improvements. Please update you million moments, and enjoy the new features!

June, 21st, 2012 A book of sweets, a food for your inspiration

Hi, it’s Aki the sweets lover. Today I’d like to share with you my favorite book called “sweets.”

Here is my tip on making a good-looking sweets book: Try to avoid using the photos with same picture composition.
The photos with same picture composition mean the photos taken from the same direction and the same distance. The series of such photos makes them look the same, and makes your book look boring. Try to add changes to your photos by lining the sweets up, shooting from closer distance, or shooting from different angle.

Making a book with just your favorite things on it makes your life with million moments even more enjoyable. I hope my book of sweets became a food for your thought on how to make the use of the app.

What is your favorite book? Please talk to us and let us know on Twitter (@millionmoments). Don’t forget to add a hush tag #millionmoments when you post a page of your book!

June, 14th, 2012 Cropped in an unexpected way?

Hi again, have you enjoyed Goka’s post? The two of us together will be bringing to you the tips on how to make the most out of the app. Get ready for the fun stuff!

Today, I would like to answer to one of the most frequently asked questions; what can I do if my pictures are laid out like this?

First, to avoid the faces being cropped wrongly, we recommend you to run our picture analysis. The picture analysis feature goes through your photos and recognizes the position of the face in each photo. To run it, go to the setting option and select the “Picture analysis.” The analysis may take minutes, depending on the number of the photos not yet analyzed.

If it didn’t solve your problem, then there is another option. Hold down on the picture you wish to move until you see the message “Drag to select the display area.”

This will allow you to drag the picture. Let go your finger once, and then drag the picture to show the hidden portion. When you’re done, just tap any dark area around the highlighted picture to go back. Once you’ve made the adjustment, the app will automatically save the change, so that you won’t need to make the same adjustment again.

I hope this tip will help you make your album even more lovable.

June, 7th, 2012 Send new baby announcement using million moments

Hi it’s Aki again. It’s hot in Tokyo today. How is the weather where you live?
It seems there is a little baby boom around me these days. A card of a new born baby that I receive gives me a warm feeling.

Today, I’d like to share with you how million moments can help you send such a heart-warming announcement of the birth of a new baby.

To share the image via e-mail, drag the page up to show the menu on the bottom, and tap the "share" icon on the bottom right. When a dialogue box pops up, choose “Other apps”, and pick an email app that you normally use. (If you are iOS user, simply choose “Mail.”)

This time, I’ve written-in the baby’s weight and height. It would even be nicer if I write-in other episodes relating the birth of the baby. Such comments or records should also be a good memory for me when I look back.

Speaking of keeping a record, if you’re on diet, you can also keep track of your weight the same way with this app. Just a thought…

We would be happy to see your images made by million moments. Share them with us on Twitter with a hushtag "#millionmoments".
We are on twitter too (@millionmoments).

June, 4th, 2012 Create a new book

Hello again everyone!

Today, I’d like to walk you through how to make a new book if you haven’t had a chance to try it yet.

First, open your book and flip pages until you see a photo you like. Then drag that page down to show the labels placed above the page.

Just tap on the label you want to put, and tap on the photo. The label is attached to the photo while small stars spangle. Don’t forget to make a wish before the stars disappear!

Well, then, go back to the book shelf. Ta-da! Now a new book appeared on your shelf!

If you’d like to give a name to your new book, just go to the setting and you can name your label you have just attached. The name of the label is given automatically to the corresponding book. You can also change the name from book-setting options.

I hope you liked the easiness of organizing your pictures using labels. That is the whole point. I wished to make it so simple and easy that I can use it every day.

See you again!
